William Ed Diggs(1921 - 2014)

DIGGS Funeral services for William Ed Diggs, 92, will be held 11AM Wednesday, February 19, 2014, in the chapel at JACKSONVILLE MEMORY GARDENS FUNERAL HOME, 111 Blanding Blvd., Orange Park, FL, with Rev. Steve Mouzon officiating. Interment will follow in Jacksonville Memory Gardens Cemetery with full military honors. Ed was born on July 31, 1921, in Clinton, TN. He went home to be with the Lord on February 15, 2014, in Jacksonville, FL, surrounded by his family. Ed served his country proudly in the United States Navy during WWII and retired as a Chief after 23 years of decorated service. He made a career with NARF civil service after his retirement from the military and retired again after 20 years of dedicated service. Ed was a 25, year member of Avondale Baptist Church and the last several years has been a member of the Lake Shore Baptist Church. He was a member of the German American Club, a proud fan of the Tennessee Vols, and an avid golfer. Ed was predeceased by his first wife of 36 years, Georgia Nadine Diggs. He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Geneva Diggs; three sons, Eddie Diggs (Wanda), Terry Diggs (Theresa), and Bill Hetzler (Sandy); three daughters, Brenda Manfre, Susan Powell, and Pam Calloway (Chuck); eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and many other loving family members and friends. The family will receive friends on Wednesday prior to the service from 10AM-11AM at the funeral home. Ed Diggs will be remembered as a man who was dedicated to his family, touched the lives of many, and will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.
