EDWARDS Please Sign the Guestbook @ Jacksonville.com Major William T. (Tom) Edwards, USAF, Ret., age 80, passed away February 15, 2013 in Orlando, FL. Born May 28, 1932 in Tampa, FL, Tom was the son of Samuel F. and A. Mae Edwards. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Josephine Fabian Edwards, his children William T. (Tom) Edwards, Jr. of St Augustine, FL, Karen Jo Hill (Leland) of Orlando, FL , and Sarah Anne Perkins (Curt) of Coral Springs, FL. Tom is also survived by his grandchildren, Jennifer M. Arney (Dale) of Williamsburg, VA, Ali E. Johnston (Tripp) of Middleburg, FL, Kristen J. Hill of China and L. Ross Hill of Orlando, FL, his brother Walter H. Edwards (Pauline) of Tucker, GA, sister-in-law Maria Fabian of Orlando, FL, niece Alice Keheley of Loganville, GA, and nephew Keith Edwards of Tucker, GA. Tom was a member of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity, and the American Red Cross Volunteer Life Saving Corps, Jacksonville Beach. He attended Andrew Jackson High School in Jacksonville, FL (1950), Florida State University (B.S. 1953), and Troy State University (M.S. 1974). Tom served in the U.S. Air Force from 1-15-1954 to 8-31-1974 retiring with the rank of Major. During his service, he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Distinguished Service Medal, Bronze Star, Air Medal with 14 clusters, Air Force Commendation Medal, Navy Commendation Medal with V for Valor, Combat Readiness Medal, Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, and the Republic of Vietnam Air Service Medal. During his career, he flew over 10,000 flight hours in the T-33, B-47, B-52, C-130, O-1 (Forward Air Controller in Vietnam), T-29 and C-54. He was also a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor and a Real Estate Broker. Friends are invited to call Thursday evening at the Baldwin- Fairchild Funeral home, Ivanhoe Chapel, 301 N.E. Ivanhoe Blvd., Orlando, FL, from 6:00-8:00pm. Graveside services, with Military Honors will be held at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL, Friday at 11:30am.
