Jane Darnall Obituary

DARNALL Please Sign the Guestbook @ Jacksonville.com Jane A. Darnall (nee Alcott) was born on September 24, 1909 in Mount Holly, NJ and died May 19, 2011 in St. Augustine, FL. She was the sixth child of eight born to her parents Edgar Augustus Alcott and Mary Gertrude Alcott (nee Pease). All of her siblings are deceased. She is survived by her five children: Robert A. Darnall of Emmaus, PA; Bruce R. Darnall and his wife Brenda M. Csencsits of St. Augustine, FL; Elizabeth D. Cummings (nee Darnall) and her husband Robert B. Cummings of Tucson, AZ; Mary S. Trahman (nee Darnall) and her husband William L. Trahman of Emerald Isle, NC; and Alexander K. Darnall and his wife Patricia W. Darnall of Tavares, FL. Her husband, Colonel Carl R. Darnall (US Army Retired), was a career military officer before passing away in 1954. Jane, as a devoted military wife, lived in many parts of the United States and in Japan. Following her husband's death she worked as a Lab Technician for many years at Fort Monmouth US Army Hospital in NJ. After retirement she lived in Shrewsbury, NJ and Greensboro, NC before moving to Jacksonville, FL in 1997, where she resided in Cypress Village. In addition to her surviving children, Jane has 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Jane's remains will be interred at her husband's gravesite at Arlington National Cemetery. Per Jane's wishes there will not be a memorial service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257.
