ANNABELLE BROWN Obituary

BROWN Annabelle Ann Johnson-Brown, 89 years old, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, on April 1, 2013. Ann was born December 18, 1923 in Holland, MI she lived more than seventy years in the south and became a proud southerner. Ann was a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. When you look back on one s life it is easy to wonder if you have made a difference in the lives of others. With our mother, there was no doubt. After retirement from McKesson she became a Volunteer at St Lukes/Mayo Hospital for 18 years: the patients and staff missed that caring and speedy dynamo. Active member of the American Business Women s Assoc and those friendships have lasted forever. She felt blessed to be a member of the Fruit Cove Baptist Church Unity Class and appreciates their faithful prayers and kindness. Being a mother, grandmother and great grandmother was the most important job in her life; Mom always loved and managed to see the best in each of us. She leaves to cherish her memory her two daughters, Charlotte Johnson and Linda Nail (George) of Jacksonville and son Al Johnson (Julie) of Little Rock, AR. Nanny will be missed by her three granddaughters Kelli Collins, Kristin Scroggins (Jimmy) and Taylor Johnson and ten great grandchildren; Kayla and Kenny Collins and the Scroggins children, James, Daniel, Jeremiah, Isaac, Stephen, Anna-Kate, Mary Claire and Caleb. Mom was blessed to have many great girlfriends Helen Toole, Good-Time Girls and June Dixon. A celebration of her life will be held at 5:30 pm, Saturday, April 6, 2013, at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin. The family asks in lieu of flowers, donations are made to either Samuel C. Taylor Foundation, 6601 Chester Ave, Jacksonville, FL 32217 for the loving care and commitment to our Senior Citizens. Our family holds Taylor and Community Hospice with the highest esteem, GOD BLESS their compassionate and caring staffs. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin, 11801 San Jose Blvd. Jacksonville, FL 32223. www.hgmandarin.com (904) 288-0025. Dear Char and Family, thank you so much for allowing me to be a "part" of the family and the opportunity to know Ms. Ann. I have so many fond memories of Ann. I'll never forget that twinkle in her eye, that scrutiny she gave us when she thought we were up to mischief, the jokes we shared, the advice and caution (OK, warnings!) she gave us when we would head out for a girls night out or to look for some "dust collecting" accessory for Char's home, her classiness and style that shown in her demeanor and her look, her perfectly coiffed hair, and the sheer goodness that she was. Her spirit lives on and she truly lives in those who's life she has blessed. I feel fortunate and blessed to have known this amazing woman. I'm sure she's up in heaven giving those heavenly housekeepers a run for their money! You show'em Ms. Ann!

Charlotte and Family: Will miss Ann; that special little lady with the beautiful smile! Ann knew "the way and the truth and the life"! She is O.K. now; living with Jesus in heaven. Know you will cherish your precious memories. May God keep you in His loving arms and give you peace and comfort. Phil. 4:6-7.

Char and family, I have so many fond memories of Ann and your family, from the time I babysat 2 little girls. Then you moved next door to us and Al came along. Ann was a real dynamo, a bundle of energy in a tiny package. We enjoyed so many laughs and good times. She will be deeply missed by family and friends.
With loving thoughts

We remember Ann and all her energy and smiles. Never a leaf was allowed to remain on the driveway ... Ann was out there sweeping as soon as they hit. Then she started her power walks and no one could keep up with her. Her enthusiasm over our neighborhood New Year's parties was not to be excelled. The chicken dance was likely her favorite!!!

Much later as Ann became Annabelle at Taylor's she was still a joy. My heart was full when I asked if I could come back and she nodded "yes." But, she beat me to the throne by days before I could experience that priviledge.

Blessing to the family of such a wonderful lady.

Charlotte, As I told you after the service, you were an inspiration to those of us who feebly tried to comfort you and your family, by the joy shown on your face that your mother, Ann, was safe in the arms of our Savior Jesus Christ. May God continue to bless you through your witness as shown in your expressions and deeds.

It was 1994 when we met your Mom. She could walk to the Bayside mailboxes faster than I could get to the end of the driveway! I kept saying that when I get to be Ann's age, I want to have her energy. She was tiny and petite, but so strong and mighty. We will miss her and her sense of humor.
Charlotte, you had such a wonderful Mom and she had the best daughter a Mother could ask for.

Char; I am so sad to hear of your Mom's passing... she was always such a delight - her caring, her sense of humor, her style - she was one of the coolest people I've known (and I see where you get all that as well!) She will be missed and you gave her a good life, companionship and a reason to get up and go every day, she was amazing! Love you.

To my Sweet Ann.... I am going to miss our times together sharing the word and laughing as we always did, while I was doing ur hair every Saturday. I know now the Heavenly beauty parlor is grand and u probably still have ur 9 am time to get it done there. I know for sure u hair will look awesome when u go the throne to WORSHIP the KING, Jesus. I am going to miss u and pray u are receiving everything ur hearts desire as u walk those streets of gold and are meeting so many saints who have gone on before u. One day soon we will all be together when He comes to take us all home to GLORY! I thank the Lord for our meeting and our friendship and love for one another. God Bless u my sweet Ann, I love u and Know u are seeing Jesus FACE TO FACE!!!!! And I know He said welcome HOME THY GOOD AND FAITHFUL
SERVANT!

What a beautifully written summary to honor a woman whose life, I'm sure, could never be fully captured in words. May her love still carry on through the love of the Holy Spirit and His tender care of each of her family members.

Charlotte and family,
Just saw of your Mom's passing into glory!! Our prayers are with all of you at this time. I do so remember times working with Ann at Barnett Bank and teasing her about needing to stand on a box to see her customers when she was a teller.
God be with ya'll and know He is always there.

Dear Charlotte and Family,

I was so sorry to hear about Ann. I felt like I knew Ann as my mom (June Dixon) would share various stories from their days volunteering at St. Lukes. She was a great friend to mom. I remember how important it was for Ann to put together two photo albums for my mom of her grandchildren. My mom cherishes these books not only because they are of her grandchildren but because Ann thought that much of mom to do this for her. Ann was a wonderful person and I'm so glad they were able to spend time together during their volunteer days......memories my mom will always cherish. My prayers to you and your family.

Long before I married Ann's nephew, Stanley Mizell almost 45 years ago and became a part of the family, Ann was special to me. My family lived across the street from Albert & Ann, Char, Linda & Al. We grew up together & played together. Ann was a unique lady and I know she loved her family dearly. Stanley & I agree with Brenda - Ann is having a wonderful homecoming with all of the family in heaven. We know God will comfort you all.
