Corazon Ordonez Obituary

ORDONEZ Mrs. Corazon Venus Ordonez, 77 years old of Jacksonville, Florida passed away Monday, February 1, 2016. She was born on July 7, 1938 in Bangued, Abra, Philippines. She obtained her education: Associate in Arts from Philippine Christian University, Bachelor of Science in Education from Pacifican College, Bachelor of Arts in Religious Education from Wesleyan Bible College and Master of Arts in Education from Pangasinan State University. She is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years, Rev. Luis E. Ordonez, retired Minister of the Church of the Nazarene and President of a Christian College in the Philippines; his two 2 sons, Wesley (Kathy) of Jacksonville, FL, Charles of Jacksonville, FL and 2 daughters, Margie (Bill) of Orange Park, FL and Joy (John) of Portland, OR. She has 8 grandchildren: Michelle, Lisa, Deanna, Caralyn, Philip, Johnny, Rebekah and Priscilla. She is also survived by her sister Mrs. Julie Ventura of Vallejo, CA and many nieces and nephews within the United States, Philippines, and Europe. She is a pastor's wife of 57 years starting in the Philippines and until they moved to U.S.A. She had served as National President of the Women's Missionary Society in the Philippines, started a community high school in the Philippines, and teacher of both public & private high school and college. Here in the USA, she served as librarian, teacher, and after school teacher. She was also an avid sports fan and loved coaching softball when she was a teacher in the Philippines. She enjoyed traveling, visiting friends, relatives and missionaries around the world and was also delegate to various international church ministries and conventions. She helped her husband pioneer the International Bible Church of the Nazarene in Northeast Florida for over 20 years and despite her disability, she remained active helping in the Bible Studies at various locations. She and her husband were also active in the Filipino Civic Organization, Ilocano and Bayanihan group in particular. She is a remarkable, devoted, loving wife, mom, aunt and grandma. Her grandchildren enjoys being around her as she loves to shop, cook and travel both here and abroad. Her home was always open to friends and families as she enjoys entertaining, serving and cooking. Her kind and optimistic spirit will be deeply missed by all those who knew her. Her motto is Only one life will soon be past, only what's done for Christ will last The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 PM on Thursday, February 11th at Jacksonville Memory Gardens Funeral Home, Orange Park, FL. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 12th at Calvary United Methodist Church, 112 Blanding Blvd. Orange Park, FL 32073 officiated by Rev. Esther Robinson. This life on earth is merely just a passing through. Praise God for our home in heaven. I thank God He sent Mrs. Cora to us. She was a very special blessing in our lives. Through Mrs. Cora, many got to witness to the true love of Christ Jesus. I will always hold my memories of Mrs. Cora in my heart until the glorious day we will meet again. ♡♡♡♡♡
