Charlie was born on Staten Island, NY in September 1919, the son of Italian immigrants Salvatore and Josephine Paresi. He served in the CCC and proudly served our country as a Navy Corpsman /Pharmacist Mate during WWII achieving the rank of Chief. Service included duty aboard the USS Orizaba, USS Wichita, USS Fogg, USS Zellars, USS Wrangell and The Roosevelt Aircraft Carrier. He saw action or was stationed in N. He was married for 68 years to Mary, his childhood sweetheart, soul mate and life long dance partner. After raising their seven children, they traveled the world visiting many of his former ports of call. Charlie pursued his love of golf as both participant and spectator into his senior years. He encouraged his children to excel in academics and cheered their participation in sports. He was an avid Florida Gator fan, passing this enthusiasm to his children. Charlie was an active member of St. Matthew's Parish, the American Legion #137 and a member of the first baccalaureate class of Jones College. He embraced life and those of us who shared in it. With his passing, we lost an irreplaceable member of the greatest generation-one who thought he did nothing special but who gave us everything, a true hero. Charlie never met a stranger, was a remarkable tower of strength, possessing integrity, kindness, soulfulness, a warm smile and laughing eyes that charmed all who knew him. He was a totally committed and loving father, a loyal and true friend who believed in education for a better life. Above all, Charlie valued the love and support of family, living each day hoping to make someone's life brighter. Left to honor his legacy are his children Patricia DeCarli (Wiley) Diane Burns, Paul Paresi, Joanne Connell (Galen) Barbara Paresi and Marianne Deibel (Buck).
