Clyde and his enthusiasm for the teaching of French will be forever etched on my mind. I thank him for all the students who left his classroom enthralled and dedicated to the language and who spread that love of France to this day.

On this anniversary of Clyde's passing I still remember and smile at his French dress code!! His Eiffel Tower socks or a tie with the French flag or a tee showing his dedication to and love for the French people and their culture. I know that there are many, many students who weren't able to experience a class taught by Monsieur Clark, and that's a sad thing, since his enthusiasm and love for the language were contagious.

My lungs felt as though air had just been sucked out of them and my heart dropped below my stomach. when i got the news that Mr.Clark had passed, my mind stop functioning. There's this sudden sadness that hit me, and it can't seem to lift. He was my teacher in 2010, and i just can't bear the thought that he no longer stands on the same ground we do. Breathing is hard now, knowing someone who once stood a mere inch from me and gone. if nothing else, death is punishment, torture to the soul. -Aisha

I knew Clyde and his family for many years. I spent quite a bit of time at the Clarks' home when I was in school. Even from a fairly early age Clyde knew that he wanted to learn French and he spoke of living abroad. It doesn't surprise me in the least to hear both friends and former students speak of his passion for the language and what a special person he was. I was very saddened to learn of his passing from his brother Barnett. My thoughts and prayers are with the entire Clark family in this difficult time.

Monsieur Clark was one of the most memorable teachers at Wolfson and was just brilliant. He would talk to anyone in the hallways and on game days blare on his little radio the song "Hungry Like the Wolf"! Thanks Monsieur Clark!

I first met Clyde many years ago as we were trying to find the venue for a meeting at UNF. He was a French teacher, he told me, I Latin and French. We talked and I was deeply impressed by his enthusiasm and seeming dedication to the language and country of France. As the years have passed, we have come into contact with one another many times--at department chair meetings, foreign language meetings, and through French friends in Nantes. I am now a French teacher, dedicated as well to the language and culture. But my dedication dims in comparison to that of Clyde, who breathed French. He loved the people and their country and passed that love on to so many others. Clyde's enthusiasm and recent courage outshone those of any other person whom I know. His flair and panache will be missed by us all. There will never be anyone else like Monsieur Clark.
May 27, 2011
I was always amazed by Clyde's brilliance and his desire to continue and inspire learning. His contributions to this world will be carried forth in the thoughts and actions of his students and friends. We have lost a good man and an outstanding teacher.

Monsieur Clark, you've been the greatest teacher and role model. I've learned so much more than books could teach anyone from you. You've taught me to be a better me. You've helped guide me through high school and the start of college and I'll always be thankful for the greatest 2 years of my life having you as a teacher. I'll always keep you in my memories and prove to you that you made a difference at least in helping me.

Monsieur Clark will always be a part of my heart. When I was 15 I chose to study French under M. Clark at Wolfson. I quickly learned that the strict yet quirky M. Clark would open my eyes and heart to many new things. I learned so much about French and fell in love with the language, the land and the people we did exchange programs with. M. Clark was that one teacher to me that did what no other would do, and changed my life forever. I was fortunate enough to study 4 years of French with M. Clark, and travel to France twice which were life changing experiences. He will forever be in my dearest of memories and part of my heart forever, for he is part of the woman I am today. My deepest and sincere thoughts and prayers to M. Clark's friends and family, he will be greatly missed and cherished. He was one in a million. Au revoir Monsieur -avec beaucoup de l'amour

In My Pocket
I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.
My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.
They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.
Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.
But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

Mr. Clark was more than a teacher. He was a friend and inspiration. I had the privilege of being his student and traveling to France with him three times. He taught me how to be inspired by the world around me and by cultures different than our own. He was the best teacher I have ever had and I will miss him. I really feel I would not be the person I am today without knowing and learning from Mr. Clark. You will be missed. C/O 2000.

I am sorry to hear of Mr Clark's passing. He was such an inspiration and wonderful teacher for my daughter and many more! It is a great loss to the educational system and even more to those closest to him.
He made a big difference in my daughter's life at school and everywhere else. He bravely transported many young folks to France and returned them all safely, after a wonderful life-altering experience. He was my daughter's favorite teacher, he taught her so much more than French~~he gave her a broadened outlook on life.
His life has been a great success! He made learning fun and not all teachers know how to do that!
In gratitude for his contribution to my daughter!

I want you to know that because of you, I have a love for the French Language and I want to continue to study it in college and I know that one day, I will travel to France.
Thank you for all that you did, you've been such an amazing teacher and friend. I will never, ever forget you!

Goddaddy,
From the first day that we met you took me in as your biological daughter. There wasn’t anything that we couldn’t talk about and nothing you wouldn’t do to help me. You have been there from my middle school step shows, my first day of high school, every award ceremony, my proms, graduation, wedding, baby showers, and kids’ birthday parties. You watched me grow from a young girl playful and kind to a beautiful woman coming to you for adult advice. You are the best teacher, Godfather, friend, and Neighbor that I am honored to have. Even though you are gone your legacy will always live through me
