Craun Family and Friends
I believe Ernie would say somthing like this:
"Grieve not nor speak of me with tears
but laugh and talk of me as if I were beside you
I loved you so
twas heaven being with you"
He was more than a friend, closer than a brother

To the Craun Family:
Ernie was an important and fun part of my life in high school (AJ Class of '56) and I was deeply saddened to hear this news. I can still see his dazzling smile and hear that great voice in the theater of my mind. I had hoped that all of us could sing together once more, but I guess we will have to wait a bit longer...

Dear June and family,
In this age of computers some news travels slowly. My prayers and thoughts are with you at this bitter sweet time, bitter for the physical loss but sweet knowing you will be together again. Earnie was truely a blessing for many people especially for mom and dad, they were as dad called him prayer warriors. I sing with the Vocal Majority, a large mens chorus that competes in the barbershop style, a few of our men have passed away in the last several years. If heaven has singing Earnie will really enjoy those about him.
I know this is a hard time emotionally for you as you will see and hear Earnie in many places, but remember it is a homecoming and for christians we get to see each other again sing praises forever (maybe without water bottles).

On Monday, January 12th, the Lord, for reasons I do not question but do not understand, took unto Himself a piece of my heart when He took Ernie Craun home. "Big Ern was my Playmate; my Competitor; my Classmate; my Friend; my Confidant; my Companion, and my Brother.
He was my Playmate from the time we were barely out of diapers. He was my Competitor from dodgeball and hide-and -seek to organized football. He was my Classmate from the first grade until the twelfth. My Friend because we grew together, through thick and thin, from the time we were young until the time we were old men. He was my Confidant because he never gave me reason to distrust his loyalty and protection of the pourings out of my soul. And he was my Companion because we genuinely enjoyed each other's company on our many long adventuresome trips. But more than all these, he was my Brother!
Someone once said that there were two kinds of brothers: The kind where you were brothers because you were a part of their family...and the kind where you are brothers because they are a part of your heart. Ernest Eugene Craun was a part of my heart.
June, you and Bryan and Melony must know that there is a place beyond this pain we now feel where the laughter we have shared will wipe away our tears. Much love to you all.....

Dear June and family,
I just wanted to extend my condolences to you and your family. I also am a 1957 graduate of AJHS and attended the last reunion which was the last time I had an opportunity to visit with Ern. He was a great guy whom everyone loved to be around because he had the ability to make anyone he was talking with to feel like you were the only one in the room. His leadership will be missed. What a guy!
