GARY MONTGOMERY Obituary
MONTGOMERY Gary M. Montgomery of Switzerland passed away at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, August 11, 2013, in his home. He was 63. Mr. Montgomery was born September 29, 1949 in Warren, Ohio to Hays and Barbara Reimer Montgomery. After graduating from Brookfield High School in 1967, Mr. Montgomery married his high school sweetheart, April Andrusky, and they started a family. They were blessed with a son, Hays and a daughter Mary Grace. He was a member of Brookfield Christian Church. Gary worked hard his entire life. As a salesman for Premier Industrial, a driver for Sanitary Dairy, and was part of the Trumbull County Road Crew. He was known as 'Hot Wheels' by many as he drove truck for McLean's, Armour Transport and was part of the Million Mile Club with Anchor Motor Freight. He was a member in the Local Teamsters Union and also carried on the family tradition as a Volunteer in the Brookfield Fire Department. He called Florida home for the last 22 years. In that time he not only worked for Excel Distribution, installing custom showers, mirrors and shelving for residential and commercial buildings, but he proudly became the owner and president of it in 1995. Gary also played hard his entire life. He was an avid fan of racing of all kinds: stock car, sprints, modifieds and even the high school drag strip bragging rights kind. For years he made the pilgrimage to the tracks far and near. Along the way he made some long-lasting friendships and many memories. Gary was the kind of guy who would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He was always there to help, be it with muscle, tools, know-how or the advice you acquire from living life. Even in death, he continues to help others. He provided the gift of sight to two people with the donation of his corneas. And though his body may have failed him, his strong personality will live on here on Earth as he enjoys a joyful, eternal life in the presence of Jesus Christ. He is survived by his wife, April; his son Hays and wife Stacy, Brookfield, Ohio; his daughter Mary Grace and husband Ron, Bloomfield Hills, MI; his grandchildren, Hays M. Montgomery, Mia and Chloe Rocz. His sisters; Carolyn Indrick and husband Bill, Kirkwood , NY; Raella Baker and husband Ralph, Brookfield, OH; Deborah Gray, Hubbard OH; Hope Wheeler and husband Mark, Boardman, OH. And a brother, Hays 'Hap' Montgomery, Naperville, IL. And many nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, James Vojtko. As suggested by his family, memorial contributions may be made to Northeast Florida Community Hospice, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32257. A Memorial Service will take place Saturday, August 17 at 4pm in the Chapel at the Hadlow Center. Fellowship and food to follow. St. Johns Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
