GILPIN
Harry W. "Buddy" Gilpin, 71, St. Augustine, died unexpectedly July 5, 2018 at Flagler Hospital. He was born Feb. 3, 1947 in St. Stephen, SC, son of the late James L. and Hazel Youngblood Gilpin. He has resided here in St. Augustine since 2009, moving here from Jacksonville, FL. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during Vietnam and was honorably discharged in 1970. Buddy graduated with honors from the University of South Carolina with his Masters in Business Administration. After a career with AT&T Convergys Corporation, he retired in 2007. Buddy enjoyed golf, loved to read, traveling and cruising with the Happy Hour Cruisers and spending time at his favorite place "Tides" at the beach.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Flowers are gratefully declined and those wishing may mak e a contribution in his memory to S.A.F.E. Pet Rescue, Inc. P.O. Box 840215, St. Augustine, FL 32080 or to a .
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Trish, St. Augustine; son, Ryan Gilpin, Jacksonville; sister in law and brother in law, Linda and John Stanton; nephew, John Stanton Jr. (Andy); goddaughter, Kim Matthews(Scott) and children, Marlie and Pierce of Florence, SC; as well as other family and friends who loved him and will miss him. Buddy was preceded in death by his nephew, Kevin Stanton. His little dog Mitzi will especially miss her nightly "tug of war" with her daddy.
