JAMES HARRIS Obituary

HARRIS James Arthur Harris, 82, passed away peacefully on May 26th, 2011 in Green Cove Springs, FL. Jim was born in Green Cove Springs on March 15, 1929. He honorably served his country for 20 years in the U.S. Navy and received the Bronze Star on the National Defense Service Medal and Ribbon also the Silver Star on the Good Conduct Medal sixth award for service ending July 24th, 1966. Upon retiring from the Navy, he moved to Jacksonville and worked at the Jacksonville Shipyard as a machinist. In 1979 Jim and his wife, Vivian moved back to Green Cove Springs. He was preceded in death by his parents Richard and Elizabeth Harris of Green Cove Springs; sisters, Mary Daniels and Nancy Steigler; brothers, Richard (Dick) Harris and Herbert Harris. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Vivian; son, James K. Harris (Tammy); daughter, Tara Harris Josephs (John); granddaughters, Caitlin and Amanda Harris, several nieces and nephews, and longtime friend, Bud Geiger. At the family's request, a private service will be held at a later date. He will be laid to rest at the National Cemetery in Jacksonville, FL.
