Jerry Batton Obituary
BATTON Jerry W. Batton of Neptune Beach Florida passed away Thursday, December 22, 2011. A native of Jacksonville, FL he graduated from Ribault High School. Jerry and his wife Karen was a 32 year resident of Neptune Beach Florida. Jerry committed his life to saving lives as a Firefighter for the City of Jacksonville for over 25 years. Jerry was preceded in death by his father Thomas W. Batton and his Mother Lois M. Batton and his brother-in-law Robert E. Townsend. He is survived by his wife Karen M. Batton, his sister Yvonne Batton Townsend and, brother Thomas R. Batton. He so loved his niece Stephanie Townsend Williams and Dylan A Williams his great nephew. He is also survived by nephew's Adam (Lisa) Mathews, Drew Mathews, Jordan Mathews, and Preston Mathews. Growing up Jerry loved surfing, snow skiing, water skiing. golf and boating. Throughout his life Jerry was devoted to his entire family and was a cherished husband, brother, uncle and friend to so many people and lived his life to the fullest. Some of Jerry's passions included his love for dirt track racing and motorcycling. It meant alot to him to have his NASCAR/ FASTCAR license and continue his passion for racing throughout his life. He touched so many people with his sincere care and respect for everyone he met during his time he spent traveling in Key West, Colorado, New Smyrna, Glennville, Claxton and Daytona over the years. Please join family and friends at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Chapel on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 from 6pm- 8pm for a celebration of Jerry's life. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Jacksonville Retired Firefighters Association.
