John Dux Obituary

DUX John Henry Dux, Sr., 87, of Jacksonville, widower of Dolores Moody Dux, died Tuesday, February 24, 2004 at his son's home in Summerville, S.C. A Funeral Mass was celebrated in Summerville at St. John the Beloved Catholic Church by The Most Rev. Robert J. Baker, Bishop of Charleston, S.C. on Friday, February 27, 2004. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 2, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. by the Rev. Father Frederick R. Parke, Pastor Assumption Catholic Church followed by the Rite of Committal and Final Commendation in Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Diocese of Charleston, P.O. Box 818, Charleston, S.C. 29402 or Diocese of Saint Augustine, P.O. Box 24000, Jacksonville, FL 32241- 4000. Mr. Dux was born December 15, 1916 in Jacksonville, son of the late John M. Dux and Emma Friebel Dux. He attended the University of Florida, Julia Landon High School, St. Pauls Catholic School, Aloisius Kolleg, Koln (Germany) and Assumption Catholic School. He was a member of the Holy Name Society, Assumption Catholic Church Ushers Club, Knights of Columbus- Bishop Kenny Council, National Association of Purchasing Managers, WW II Civil Defense Block Captain and St. Francis Soup Kitchen in Jacksonville. He was Treasurer, Parts and Purchasing Manager with M.D. Moody & Sons, Inc. He was a member of St. John the Beloved Catholic Church, Summerville, S.C. and Assumption Catholic Church, Jacksonville. Surviving are two sons, Rev. Father John H. Dux of Summerville and Christopher W. Dux (Rebecca) of Phoenix, Arizona; two daughters, Dolores M. Dux of Tucson, Arizona and Jane Dux duPont (Roger) of Jacksonville; grandchildren, V. Roger duPont, III of Tallahassee, Florida, Aimee duPont Harkness (Christopher) of Atlanta, Georgia, Anna Elizabeth Dux of Nashville, Tennessee, Michael Christopher Dux and Patrick Alexander Dux both of Sylva, North Carolina, a great- grandson, Matthew Christopher Harkness of Atlanta, Georgia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
