Obituary Condolences

ATWATER Leonard Atwater, Sr., 81, of Jacksonville, FL passed away suddenly on October 23, 2008. He had a passion for barbequing, travel, fishing, and farming. He was a political advocate serving in many campaigns. He took pride in his International Longshoremen's Association A.F.L. - C.I.O. Local No. 1408 membership. After retirement, he owned a laundry business and a farm. He served faithfully as a trustee for Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist Church where he held membership for over 60 years. He will be dearly missed by his wife of 52 years, Eliza Atwater and his children: Ardean Bell, Leonard Atwater Jr. (Marilyn), Norese Randolph, Melvin Morris (Denise), Valerie Richardson (Roscoe), Gregory Atwater (Bonnie), Gerald Atwater, 20 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, a host of family and friends. Visitation will be held Saturday, November 1, 4 - 6 pm at the mortuary. Services will be Sunday, November 2, 2008, 2:30 pm at Greater Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist Church, 1462 Prince St., Pastor Kelly E. Brown, Jr., officiating.
