Eileen B. DeVoe Obituary
DEVOE Eileen B. DeVoe (August 18, 1921 July 27, 2012) Eileen B. DeVoe, longtime resident of Jacksonville, passed away on July 27, 2012. Eileen was born in Newark, New Jersey on August 18, 1921 to Rose and Thomas Brett. She was the youngest of eight children. In 1941 she married Albert S. DeVoe, whom she had met at a skating rink, and in 1953 they moved with their family to Jacksonville when he was transferred here by the Prudential Insurance Company of America. Eileen was a loving wife and devoted mother. She spent many years as a devout Catholic doing volunteer work at various Catholic churches and charities in the Jacksonville area. She loved to cook and bake her family s favorite meals and desserts and she loved to dance and have a good time. She will always be remembered as a mother who didn t treat each of her children the same, but treated each one as a unique individual, with different needs and different talents all of which she did her best to meet and encourage. Eileen was predeceased by her loving husband of 34 years, Albert, in 1976, whom she nursed with loving care during his unsuccessful battle with cancer. She is survived by their nine children: Albert, Dawn, Eileen, Brett, Dennis, Lois, Kevin, Jude and Noel and their spouses and children, including 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. The family would like to express our gratitude to the many wonderful caregivers at the Atrium at Regency for their love and concern for our mother over the past five years. Visitation at Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 940 Cesery Blvd., 6pm-8pm, Tuesday, July 31 and funeral mass at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 11665 Ft. Caroline Rd., 10:00am Wednesday, August 1. In lieu of flowers the family would like memorials in Eileen s name to Catholic Charity or . Please Sign the Guestbook @ Jacksonville.com
