Obituary Condolences

ALU Marilyn Alu, 71, passed the gates of Heaven to our Lord and Savior on September 8, 2013. She was a very loving, caring and supportive mother and grandmother to her family. She loved to entertain, she loved to have family and friends over and always had more than enough food for everyone to take home. Marilyn took pride in decorating and maintaining her home thereby creating a lovely sanctuary for all who visited. She had a Zen type garden and it brought refuge and comfort to everyone that visited. She also loved fashion and her family liked teasing her calling her Zha Zha Grandma . In the last 7 years she battled and survived stage 3 breast cancer and more recently stage 1 lung cancer. Always staying positive through the process of treatment and recovery. Soon after her treatments with breast cancer, she volunteered to counsel others going through the treatments at St. Vincent s Medical Center, providing hope and encouragement. She was absolutely an inspiration to others with her philosophy that the glass is always half full and not half empty. Prior to retirement, she was a successful business partner with her husband within the civilian Aerospace industry. She received security clearance and worked along- side with him conducting business within the Air Force military ranks which included Captains to Generals. She has left to mourn: her children, Tina (Jeff) Greene and David (Olga) Perkins; stepchildren, Dan (Dawn) Puryear and Debbie (Larry) Mason; grandchildren, Anna and Ali; step grandchildren, Kelsey, Meghan and Christopher; sister, Kathy; and brother, Carl. She was predeceased by her sister who also had breast cancer and Marilyn s support, Trisha. She will be missed by many and she is a true loss to this physical world but she will always be with us in spirit and will live in our hearts and consciousness. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 21st in Unity Church of Jacksonville, 634 Lomax St., Jacksonville, FL 32204 (Riverside location near 5 points).
