GIPSON Marion Snellgrove Gipson Marion was born July 5, 1930 in Dothan, AL. Her family relocated to Panama City, FL where she graduated from Bay High class of 1949. She met Robert Gipson in 1950, as both were employed by Western Electric. They married in Daytona Beach, FL July 15, 1950. The family grew with the additions of daughter Judy and son, Robert followed a few years later after moving to Jacksonville; which remained their home. Marion was involved in many organizations thru the years; she volunteered as a ceramics instructor for the City of Jacksonville at the center at 48th and Pearl St; the Greater Jacksonville Kingfish Tournament over 25 years, the Captains Club over 30 years and participated aboard the Purple Lady in numerous Lighted Boat parades in Jacksonville and Palm Valley. She is survived by husband, Robert M. Gipson, Sr.; brother, Fred Snellgrove, Southport, FL; daughter, Judy Reynolds; son, Robert Gipson, JR; grand-daughter, Nicole Reynolds and great grand-daughter, Zoe MacMaster, all of Jacksonville, FL; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Marion and Bob celebrated 62 wonderful years of marriage this past July. Marion, or Purple as many knew her; was an avid bowler for many years in various leagues; she loved being on the water aboard the Purple Lady and playing bridge with dear friends. She joined her Heavenly Father on September 17, 2012. She loved life and until the very end, lived it her way. Memorial services will be held Friday, September 21, 2012 at 1:00 PM at Southside United Methodist Church, 3120 Hendricks Ave, Jacksonville, FL 32207. The family will receive friends following the service in the social hall at the church. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her memory either to the or Haven Hospice of Jacksonville.
