Mark Leonard Bramlett, Jr., was born December 29, 1924, at St. Anthony's Hospital, Oklahoma City, to Mark Leonard Bramlett, Sr., and Osythe Towsley Bramlett. Mark moved to Nashville and attended Vanderbilt University. He attended Emory University and graduated from University of Louisville Dental school in 1948. In 1952, he was honorably discharged from the USNR and moved to Jacksonville where he started his own practice.
In 1953, Mark married Erin Wilcox, who predeceased him in July 2006. Mark and Erin had three children: Betsy Bramlett Rountree (Butch), Mark Leonard Bramlett, III (Kristina), and Nancy Bramlett Barnard (John). They had 5 grandchildren: Michael Thomas Barnard (Hannah), Charles Robert Barnard, Emily Elizabeth Rountree, Andrew Owens Rountree, and Julie Catherine Barnard. He was expecting his first great grandchild. Mark married Pat Sanow in 2007. Mark had one sister, Margaret Jane Bramlett, who predeceased him in July 2006.
Mark served as presidents of the Northeast Florida District Dental Society and Rotary Club of Jacksonville Downtown, chairman of the Muskogee District, North Florida Conference of the BSA, a member of Timuquana Country Club. He enjoyed golf competition, was club champion and competed in many senior championships. His love was to play beautiful courses such as St. Andrews, Gleneagles and Pebble Beach.
Mark was a member of Ortega United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday School for over 50 years. Mark played the piano and taught lessons up until his passing. Mark was an intellectual soul always espousing his knowledge of great philosophers, the Bible, the history of the Holy Land, stock funds and pediatric use of fluoride on all who would listen. For the past year, Mark resided at The Windsor of Ortega. The family is especially grateful for the love and care provided there.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Ortega United Methodist Church, 4807 Roosevelt Blvd., 32210, on Saturday, July 14, 2018, at 2:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the North Florida Council of the BSA, Community Hospice and Palliative Care Foundation, or the OUMC.
