Mark Mullins Obituary

MULLINS Please Sign the Guestbook @ Jacksonville.com Mark Mullins 70, of Amelia Island, Florida passed away Thursday, February 17, 2011 at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. A native of Jenkins, Kentucky he had resided in Jacksonville for the past twenty years before moving to Amelia Island in April 2010. During his career Mr. Mullins worked as an entrepreneur for many years beginning and growing many business ventures to which he was tirelessly dedicated. Throughout his life he was very active in civic affairs being a member of the Rotary Club of Jacksonville, the River Club, the Salvation Army, involved in the De Tocqueville Society of the United Way and senior citizens center, the school board of a private school as well as several corporate boards. As a member of the Rotary Club he was bestowed as a Paul Harris Fellow. In addition he and his family were longtime members of the Mandarin United Methodist Church. For many years he enjoyed photography, loved hiking, bicycling and recording music. He is survived by his wife, Judith Mullins of Amelia Island, Fla., his children, Jeffrey (Michelle) of Cummings, Ga., Greg (Lesa) and Martha(Marty) all of Jacksonville, Fla., siblings, Betty Watkins of Morristown, Tenn., Tom Mullins of Anderson, In., and Roger Mullins of St. Augustine, Fla. He is also survived by six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Adam and Ruby Mullins. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at 1 P.M. at the Amelia Island Plantation Chapel with Rev. Ted Schroder officiating. The Chapel is located at 36 Bowman Road immediately behind the Reception Center, the first left possible after entering the Amelia Island Plantation property. He will be laid to rest privately by the family at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Salvation Army, 328 N. Ocean Street, Jacksonville, Fla. 32202. I worked with Mark at Atlas Crankshaft in Fostoria, OH in the '79 - 84 time frame before he moved to FL. He was active in the community there as well. Sincere condolences to Judy and the family.
