MAX INGRAM Obituary
INGRAM Max H. Ingram, passed away July 11, 2013 at the James A. Haley VA Hospital in Tampa. Max was born 2/11/1926 to Talbert Harrison Ingram and Della Maxie Cummings. His siblings included William Ingram (deceased) and Carolyn Sue Degroot. He served his country honorably as an enlisted sailor during the end of WW II. He attended college and graduated from Memphis State and Officer Candidate School with a BA in 1951 and returned to active service as an Ensign. He served in the Korean War as a flight deck officer on the USS Saipan (CVL 48). He was honorably discharged from active duty as a LTJG, and immediately enrolled in the Naval Reserves where he retired as a Commander. Max retired as a civil servant (mechanical engineer) for Carrier and Field Service Unit (CAFSU) a division of Navy Lakehurst. Navy Lakehurst has technicians stationed worldwide to support aircraft launch and recovery equipment for air craft carriers (ALRE). Max managed the operations for Mayport, FL and later San Diego, CA when he retired. Upon his retirement (1985), he returned to Florida to enjoy his lake front property. Max loved his country, was proud to serve as an officer and later a civil servant. He is survived by his children: Max H. Ingram, Jr. (Sandy), Diane Wright (Roger), Barbara Marshall (Steven), and Beverly Colfry (Ron) 4 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. A private service is planned and yet to be determined.
