REXENE HENRY Obituary
HENRY Rexene Jean Henry, 87, went to be with the Lord peacefully on Sunday, November 4, 2012 at Southlake Nursing Home. Jean Henry was born in Kansas City, Missouri, raised in Frankfort, Kansas and graduated from Kansas State University where she majored in Latin and minored in music. A long time resident of Jacksonville, Florida since 1948, retired from Warner Brothers Pictures as a Bookkeeper, and the 1st Woman Booker for the state of Florida. She was better known as Rex by her co-workers. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Robert D. Gifford, George T. Grimm and A. Ray Henry and daughter, Karen L. Wilson. Jean is survived by her son Mike Gifford, 2 daughters Connie White, Wanda Bosworth and husband Bill Bosworth; grandchildren include Kay Luehring, David Wilson, Eugene Ackerman, Michael Wilson, Arlene Wilder, Lynne Lanham, 10 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. Jean Henry was a member of Murray Hill Methodist Church, and later after a long illness, attended Westside Baptist Church with her grandson David and his wife Leslie. Her legacy was her love of God, family and friends. She played the violin, clarinet, piano, organ, bells and cymbals. Her musical talent from college took her to play for her church, weddings, Jacksonville Expos, gospel quartets. funerals and most recently her granddaughter Lynne's wedding in 2009. Music was a large part of her enjoyment and family. Singing or playing instruments were a life-long talent and gift. She gave her time in civic organizations and church activities, taking various leadership roles, doing most any job asked with enthusiasm. Her love for children took her to volunteer in DLC Nurse & Learn Center, where more than 1,200 children from birth through 22 years of age are served, and some miraculous student progress. DLC is a special education school dedicated to meeting all of the needs of special needs children in a Christian and loving atmosphere. Jean Henry served on the board and worked in the daycare until illness took her from volunteering. She always commented, I love to rock the babies. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be sent in care of (DLC) Nurse and Learn Day Care-a special therapeutic school at Murray Hill United Methodist Church. For more information regarding DLC, contact Amy 387-0370 or visit dlcnl.org website. Memorial service will be held Saturday, December 1, 2012 at 2PM, Murray Hill Methdist Church.
