Rita was one of the kindest, funniest, wisest, and most truthful people I have ever met. She touched everyone that knew her. She will be greatly missed.

Dearest Jeannie & Billy, Kayo & I loved Rita for being such a wonderful part of our lives as Betty raised her kids with ours. Rita was our seamstress as we went through weddings for our children and ,as always, did a perfect fit for us..She was a role model for us Jr. Woman's Club members and kept us active. I recently got a picture from her of her birthday when all of the family gathered - I don't know how the photographer got all of you in the picture. She & I corresponded these past few years and I thought y'all would enjoy knowing this little side note. When Marion Robinson & I opened "The Mustard Seed " consignment shop in the mid '70s, to encourage us, Rita made each of us "shopkeeper's aprons". She painted flowers on the front pockets and our first names in a circle on the shoulder. I had kept mine all of these years & when my namesake grandaughter Sara married in Dec 2010, I gave her my apron at her kitchen shower. That picture of the current Sara was made at the party and sent to Rita. She wrote back with surprise to see that handiwork on a young bride. I loved her and will miss her Christmas Cards. Love from the Foshees, Sara & Kayo

I had Rita as a patient and always enjoyed her stories and advice. I also admired her independence and looked forward to working with her. she will be greatly missed by the Westminster community.

My name is Jaclynn and I share in a volunteer bible work. I couldn't help but notice Ms. Douglas was a world traveler. I have been living in the Dominican Republic and love it. One scripture I share with a lot of people is Ecclesiastes 9:5 "For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all..." It's nice to know that she is just in a state of sleep. I hope the funeral goes well. Please feel free to email me. [email protected]

Condolences to Billy and Jeanne. I have great memories of your mom and you and your late sister Betty when we all lived on Myra Street many years ago. Your mom would drive us to Sunday school, and she always was so kind to me as one of your playmates. My dad passed away seven years ago, and my mom was 95 when she passed last July. We had a good neighborhood to grow up in, and your mom was a big part of that.
