MORRIS BATTLE Obituary
BATTLE Morris Carlton Battle was born July 5th 1921 to Lee & Lois Battle in Forsythe Ga. He was called home to our Father on July 16th 2013, peacefully, at the age of 91. He was preceded in death by his parents Lee & Lois Battle, his brother Willie Wright, sister Evelyn James and daughter Prudence Crawford. Carl is survived by his loving wife of 34 years Nona Battle; his son Charles Mitchell; grandsons James Crawford III and Jonithine Crawford; granddaughters Stephanie Crawford and Valerie Crawford; great grandchildren Marcus Oliver Jr., Kylah Crawford and Isabella Crawford; sister-in-laws Shirley Dillworth, Rose White and Ernestine Walker; brother-in-laws Charlie Powell and John Buffington; nieces Joyce Edmonds, Peggy Risper, Sharon King, Debra Ivy, Angela Drayton and Latonda Hudgen; nephews Rev. Ricky Wright, Donnie Wright, Jarome Wright, Andrew Speight and Donald Dillworth; along with many other extended family members and friends. He graduated from Stanton High School and served his country faithfully in the United States Navy were he received an Honorable discharge. Carl worked for the United States Postal Service for 37 years, where he retired as a senior transportation supervisor. His love and dedication to his family and to his friends will forever be remembered, we will all miss his loving smile and wisdom. Rest in Peace Carl, you will truly be missed. Services will be held at 11am at Mt. Ararat Baptist Church 2305 N. Myrtle Ave. on Wednesday, January 23rd 2013. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Jacksonville National Cemetery 4083 Lannie Rd at 2pm. The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday January 22nd 2013 from 5pm -8pm at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 4315 Main St., Jacksonville, FL., 32206.
