GILLESPIE Patricia W Gillespie (Pat) 84, of Ponte Vedra Beach Florida passed away peacefully on Thursday May 23, 2013 at the Hadlow Center for Caring Community Hospice. She was born November 13, 1928 in Harvard, Massachusetts to Francis and John Adams. She grew up in Harvard graduating High School at 16. Pat attended Wellesley College earning a degree in Physical Therapy, then went on to earn Masters Degrees from Tufts and Yale Universities. She worked as a Physical Therapist in Boston before moving to the University of Connecticut in Storrs as a Professor of Allied Health. She married Allan, a professor of music in 1959 and raised their two children in Storrs before retiring in 1990 to Ponte Vedra Beach Florida. She was an active Member of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Jacksonville. Pat volunteered as a Docent at the Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens, and also at Community Hospice with her companion Holly the therapy dog. She is survived by her two sons; Stuart M Gillespie of Grantham, New Hampshire, and Scott A Gillespie, his wife Elizabeth and their two children Christopher and Katherine Gillespie of Arundel, Maine, and her Brother Jack of Stratham, New Hampshire, his wife Edith, and their two children Mark and Beth. Pat was predeceased by her husband Allan E Gillespie in October of 1997. A Service to celebrate Pat's life will be held at 11:00am on Saturday June 1st, at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Jacksonville, at 7405 Arlington Expy Jacksonville, FL 32211. In Lieu of flowers please make donations in Pat's name to the Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens attention Kenyon Merritt at 829 Riverside Ave. Jacksonville, FL 32204. I knew Pat from the Willimantic Country Club where we played golf in the women's league and couples. She was always positive and friendly. I always enjoyed her company. My sympathy to her family

Pat was an amazing tough honest funny smart Unitarian woman, and knowing her was a privilege. She left her mark on many people and community endeavors.
