George Wilton Ivey Sr. Obituary
IVEY George Wilton Ivey Sr. of Jacksonville, FL passed away on 02/09/2014. A Jacksonville, FL resident for 49 years, he was born in Lumberton, NC on 07/22/1928. George owned and managed many businesses over the years and had a long successful career in the apparel manufacturing and sales industry. George held positions as: President of Florida Fashion Exhibitors, President of Southern Apparel Exhibitors, and Commodore of the Jacksonville Outboard Club, for multiple terms. In his retirement years he worked with SunCoast RV and Dick Gore RV World and was the top producing salesperson on a consistent basis. He loved people and enjoyed meeting and helping his friends and customers. His favorite hobbies included cars and boats. George began collecting and restoring cars at a young age and was a boating enthusiast. He and his family lived and played on the waterways of Jacksonville. He held several speed boat titles as a professional boat racer and was involved in boat building and manufacturing. He served as a Volunteer Officer for the U.S. Coast Guard and was an active member of the American Legion. George is survived by his son George Ivey Jr., wife Jeannette Lynch Ivey and grandchildren Tyler and Marie, as well as his daughter Kim Ivey Purvis, her husband Chris Purvis and grandchildren Conary and Karlie. A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 from 5-7 PM and Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, February 12 at 2 PM at Arlington Park Funeral Home.
