SCARBERRY Harold W. Hal Scarberry, 88, wonderful husband, father and grandfather, fell asleep on February 8 and awoke in the arms of his beloved Savior, Jesus Christ. Hal was born in Hobart, Oklahoma on June 27, 1825 to John and Jessie Scarberry. He served in the Air Force upon his graduation, and married Virginia C. Darroch in 1949. Hal purchased a Champlin Oil franchise in Enid, Oklahoma in 1960 and operated it for 10 years. He and Virginia then purchased and operated World Bazaar stores in Texas and then Florida where they finished raising their family. Hal was a skilled golfer and pursued it with a passion. He also closely followed the NFL. He left a legacy in his over 50 sports and family scrapbooks. In 1985 at the age of 60 Hal suffered a major stroke, lost his speech and was left with paralysis. His wife, Virginia lovingly nurtured him around the clock for 28 years. During this time Hal met each day with his mid-western strength and resolve. He continued to fiercely love his family and always had a twinkle in his eyes for them. Hal was predeceased by his parents, 4 sisters and a twin brother (Carroll). He is survived by his wife Virginia, two sons Wayne and Michael; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews in Oklahoma and he leaves 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren who know him as their Pop-Pop -- The Best One Ever. There will be a graveside celebration of Hal's life on Wednesday, February 12 at two-o'clock in the afternoon at Oaklawn Cemetery. HARDAGE-GIDDENS, THE OAKLAWN CHAPEL, 4801 San Jose Boulevard is serving the family. Please Sign the Guestbook @
