Bertha Jean Bercie Holm Evans Denisch Obituary
DENISCH Bertha Jean Bercie Holm Evans Denisch, 84, formerly of Sarasota, Florida entered into eternal rest on February 13, 2014. Bercie was born on November 18, 1929 in Waterloo, Iowa, daughter of Roger and Ruth Holm. Her family moved to Sarasota, Florida in 1945. She graduated from Sarasota High School in 1948. She attended Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri and earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree at Florida State University, Tallahassee, Florida in 1952. While in college she was a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority. Bercie later attended Manasota Community College where she earned her Registered Nursing Degree. Bercie lived most of her life in Sarasota, Florida, which she always considered her home town. In 2009 she moved to Ponte Vedra, Florida to be near her son and grandchildren. Bercie was actively involved in a number of community activities, including the Junior League of Sarasota and the Founders Garden Club of Sarasota. She was a talented artist who enjoyed painting and sculpting. She was an active member of her church and acknowledged her love of Christ. Bercie was a devoted mother who loved her children and grandchildren with all her heart. She was a loving and loyal friend. Surviving are her children, Ruth Irene Evans Dorsey (Howard Held) of Charleston, South Carolina and her son, Dr. John Gary Evans (Dr. Pamela Evans) of Ponte Vedra, Florida. She is also survived by five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her oldest son, William Frank Evans, III. A Memorial Service for Bercie will be held at Church of the Palms, 3224 Bee Ridge Road, Sarasota, Florida 34239 on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 10:00 am reception to follow.
