Irene E. Sullivan Obituary
SULLIVAN Irene E. Sullivan, 90, of Orange Park, FL passed away on Thursday, February 20, 2014. Born to parents Mary and Charles Walters on June 29, 1923 in Bronx, NY, she was a graduate of Bishop McDonnell High School. Later, she received an Associate's Degree from LaGuardia Community College. In 1945 she married her loving and devoted husband Dan who was serving in the US Merchant Marines. Irene worked as Office Supervisor for several companies which led to a position as Office Manager for US Vice Presidential Candidate, Congresswoman Geraldine Ferraro in 1984. Mrs. Sullivan was deeply proud of her faith, her Irish heritage, and her New York background. In 1989, she and her husband moved to Orange Park and became parishioners of St. Luke's Catholic Church. She was an active member in numerous church organizations where she made many close friends. She will always be remembered by all who knew her as a most loving and thoughtful person. Mrs. Sullivan was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Dan Sullivan; a brother, Charles; and 2 sisters, Grace and Dorothy. She leaves to mourn her loss: a son, Daniel; daughter-in-law, Sam; many nieces and nephews; and numerous dear friends. The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 PM on Wednesday, February 26 and from 5:00 - 7:00 PM on Thursday, February 27, 2014 in the chapel of Jacksonville Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 111 Blanding Boulevard, Orange Park. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Father Edward Rooney at 10:00 AM on Friday, February 28, 2014 at St. Luke's Catholic Church, 1606 Blanding Blvd, Middleburg, FL.
