Attavia Facciolo Obituary
FACCIOLO Please Sign the Guestbook @ Mrs. Attavia Facciolo, age 71, of Fernandina Beach, passed away on Friday evening, February 21, 2014 at Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville. Born in Waycross, GA, she was the eldest of four children born to the late James Bertice and MaeBelle Blancett Tanner. As a child of a Salvation Army Officer, they relocated frequently to new cities and new assignments. The family lived in Central Florida, Meridian, MS and Muskogee, OK where she graduated high school. After settling in Jacksonville, FL she worked in the Advertising Industry with various agencies; first in Jacksonville, then Atlanta before returning to Jacksonville again. In April of 1977 she married Vincent James Facciolo, left Atlanta and moved to Jacksonville. Mrs. Facciolo enrolled at the University of North Florida where she obtained her degree with double majors in Literature and Education. For a short time she taught at Ed White High School in Jacksonville. Still having the Salvation Army running through her veins, she joined the Jacksonville operation as Coordinator of their Volunteer Services. In later years, she assisted her husband s law firm establish a satellite office in Fernandina Beach. Mrs. Facciolo was civic minded; serving as a President and Coordinator for the Amelia Island Book Festival and as a member of the Friends of the Library and Communities in Schools. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother, Monty Tanner and a son, Peter Hepler. She leaves behind, her husband of 37 years, Jim Facciolo, Fernandina Beach, FL, a son, Mitchell Hepler (Kim), Virginia Beach, VA, a daughter, Jessica Coleman (Steven), Jacksonville, FL, a brother, Bertice Tanner (Debra), Atlanta, GA, a sister, Suzie Owen (Chris), Sarasota, FL, two grandchildren, Cory and Thomas Hepler as well as several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at 4:00 pm on Saturday, March 8, 2014 in the Burgess Chapel of Oxley Heard Funeral Home with her brother, Bertice Tanner, officiating. Following the services in the chapel, all those attending are invited to a reception and time of visitation with her family at the Clubhouse of North Hampton Golf Club.
