NACKASHI Jane Nackashi, 98, passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2014, on the feast of St. Joseph, at home surrounded by her family. She was born in Mosul, Iraqi, February 8,1916. She married Solomon Nackashi 4/15/1934. In 1935 she came to America and worked with her husband hand in hand all of her life as they struggled through the Depression. She was a very wise woman always giving advice to love and forgive. Faith was her stronghold which she exemplified in her daily life. She attended daily Mass all of her life until she could no longer drive. She said the rosary daily. She was a homemaker, loved to upholster furniture, sew clothes, drapes, etc. She was an extraordinary cook, and loved to crochet. She was featured in the Jacksonville Journal in 1976 and in Southern Living. She enjoyed cooking for others, the Catholic Church and Sulzbacher Center. Her life was blessed by a marriage of 53 years to Solomon. Her parents were Peter and Jamela Tappouni. She was one of 7 children. She was preceded in death by her husband Solomon Nackashi and her son David Nackashi. She leaves behind a large, loving extended family: her daughters Betty Trad (Lou), Joann Thomy (David), and son John Nackashi (Bryan) and daughter-in-law Cindy Nackashi, 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, brother Behnan Tappouni (Adeeba) and sisters-in-law Faye Nackashi, Victoria Tappouni, Samia Tappouni. The family wishes to thank Dr. Louis Akra and his staff for the wonderful health care and love provided for many years. The family will receive friends from 6:30 pm -8:30 pm on Friday, March 21st at San Jose Catholic Church, 3619 Toledo Rd with the Rosary at 7:30. A funeral Mass will be at 11:30 am on Saturday, March 22nd at San Jose Catholic Church. Interment will follow at St Joseph's cemetery 11730 Old Saint Augustine Rd. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to San Jose Catholic School, St. Ephrem's Catholic Church, and Camp I Am Special, c/o Catholic Charities, 134 East Church #2, Jacksonville, Fl.
