Thomas Jerald Finck Obituary
FINCK Thomas Jerald Finck, a retired electrical engineer, died peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Friday, March 28, 2014. He was 75 years old. Mr. Finck was born in Springfield, MA; the youngest of four children born to the late Henry and Lena Finck. After high school, he joined the US Air Force. When he returned from honorable service, he attended and graduated from Northeastern University in Boston, MA with a degree in electrical engineering and later achieved his Master s degree. He had a successful career which included long term employment with the Sperry Corporation; now a part of Lockheed Martin. As a result of his work, Tom and his family enjoyed the opportunity to live all over the world including Charleston, SC; Merritt Island, FL; Concord, CA; the Island of Guam and settled in Jacksonville in 1978. Since retirement, he enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and traveling. He was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening and genealogy, and had a deep love of science and astronomy. He is survived by his sons; Wesley (and daughter-in-law, Bobbie) of Southlake, TX; Nathan (and daughter-in-law, Tracey) of Jacksonville, FL; and four grandchildren, Jack, Courtney, Ryder, and Robert. He also leaves behind his long-time companion of 24 years, Bonnie Siecker, her mother Evelyn Mork, and her two daughters; Karen Harrell of Jacksonville, FL and Terry Holt (and son-in-law, David), and grandchildren LJ, Josh, Beka and great-granddaughter Carmen of Pomona Park, FL. He will also be greatly missed by many dear family and friends. Mr. Finck was predeceased by his wife Wilma Jean Culpepper Finck of Echols County, GA, his two brothers Kenneth and Norman, and his sister Virginia. A celebration of his life will be held at Jacksonville Golf and Country Club on Thursday, April 3, 2014 at 6:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the or Community Hospice of Northeast Florida.
