DEPRATTER Oscar Junior DePratter, 81, was born on February 5th 1933 in Nahunta Georgia. He went home to be with the Lord on April 15th following a battle with cancer. He loved teaching the Ambassador Sunday School Class at West Park Baptist Church. He was also a Gideon. He was retired from Capital Concrete (Florida Rock). He was also school bus contractor for 20 years and a chicken farmer. He loved to garden and fish and loved spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of 52 years Carolyn, two sons, Mike DePratter (Priscilla) and Buddy Mims, two daughters Judy Chaney (Mark) and Donna Carlton and a deceased daughter Brenda Johns, a brother, Eugene DePratter (Elouise), a sister Edna Godwin (Clyde). He also has four half sisters, Lucille, Faye, Frances, Carolyn and two half-brothers Leroy and Eddie Jr. Eight grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. He will be loved and dearly missed by everyone. Viewing will be held Saturday, April 19, 2014 at 11:00 am. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 pm at West Park Baptist Church 372 Jones Road Jacksonville, FL with Pastor Ronnie Hargrove officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Memorial Park 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, FL. Arrangements by Hardage Giddens Town and Country Funeral Home 904-781-9262.
