Terry Jasper Hicks Obituary
HICKS Terry Jasper Hicks had one life goal in particular but he also had many more commitments. His life's work ended on Monday, April 28, 2014 after eighty-three years. Some of his goals in life included being a devoted Christian, a tender husband and loving father as well as being a man among men. Terry was a member of his founding church in Orlando Florida when he was called by God to enter the ministry and attend Bible Baptist College. He sold his Heating and Air business and moved his family to Springfield, Missouri where he attended and graduated with Bachelor of Science in Theology. He was ordained as a minister and started a life of founding churches and ministry to many. He also provided ministry out of the country when he travelled to Wales and served as a missionary relief pastor. Terry was a loving man who was married more than once and yet loved each with great intensity. He is survived by his wife of six-years, Patricia A. Hicks and was preceded in death by Bobbie Jean Helton and Frankie L. Davis. He was blessed with many children to include his direct descendant; Deborah (husband James, children Lisa, Mellisa and Anthony), Teresa (husband Jim, child Joylin), Sheila (husband Philip), Terry Webster (wife Darcy, children Samuel, Hannah, Nate, and Dan) and his greater family (Patricia's children) Cindy (fianc Barry), Donnie (wife Sue, and 6 children) and Bruce (wife Cindy and 4 children). He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings and one grandson Anthony Trumbo. One to quickly tell you he was far from perfect, Terry was a very happy and quick to laughter person as well as an extremely hard working man who could churn Ice Cream on the back porch, make pancakes or build a house with equal mastery and determination. He was the son of Samuel Webster Hicks and Carrie Davis and was born in Winter Park, Florida. His life as a young man was not an easy one, growing up the son of a Citrus Farmer and at one time lived in a repurposed Army tent, sharing a single cot with his father. He quit school in his 10 grade-year to start working and bought his first car at age 16 (A 1936 Hudson Teraplane- a beast of a car that he assured would run like all get out). Finally, he imparted wisdom to his son of what makes a man that he was taught by his father; Don't loan out your car and don't loan your razor. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 2, 2014 at 11:00AM at New Hope Baptist Temple 9900 103rd street Jacksonville, FL. 32210 with Pastor Charles E. Boldt officiating followed by interment in Riverside Memorial Park. The Family will receive friends at FRASER FUNERAL HOME 8168 Normandy Blvd. Jacksonville, FL. 32221 (781-4314) from 5:00- 8:00PM today. A father, husband, pastor and much more, Terry Jasper Hicks had one life goal that he spoke of and that is something he unquestionably achieved, to be a friend of God (James 2:23) Please Sign the Guestbook @ Jacksonville.com
