Margaret Paylor Fitzgerald Obituary
FITZGERALD Margaret Paylor Fitzgerald, 84, of The Villages, FL and formerly of Natures Hammock in Saint Johns, FL. departed this earth on May 4, 2014. Margaret was an artist and teacher married to William A. Fitzgerald for 64 years. She is survived by her husband Bill, her children Kate Fitzgerald Adams and Michael Fitzgerald, her granddaughter Maggie Fitzgerald and son-in-law Russell Adams. Additionally, she is survived by four cousins Eleanor Mock Dunbar Grasselli and Kent, Larry, and Jim Gildersleeve, sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws: Mary Fitzgerald, Bettie and CJ Fitzgerald, Wayne Fitzgerald, and their respective children Ellen, John, Carol, and Kelly. Margaret was a kind hearted soul with a sharp wit and an eye for detail. As an artist she worked as a painter in many styles. Starting in primitive art forms and evolving to ink, water colors and acrylics. She enjoyed artistically recreating photographs she collected and memories that inspired her. Not one to limit herself to a single discipline, Margaret spent many years creating miniature replicas of grand homes and intricate rooms. In her later years she experimented with collages. In her youth, Margaret was known to play a rocking piano and could often be heard playing a bouncing rendition of Basin Street Blues or St. Louis Boogie. As a school teacher her passion was helping at risk children learn to read and was instrumental in enhancing the lives of many children as a teacher both in Kentucky and Georgia. With a heart as big as the sky, Margaret spent many years volunteering at local hospitals and with her church. Margaret was a graduate of the University of Tennessee with a degree in education and a member of the Mandarin Baptist Church of Jacksonville Florida. Margaret was loved and adored by her family and friends and will be greatly missed. The family extends a special thanks to Cornerstone Hospice (Kathy, Sue, Joe and Cindy) as well as Lois Pierce for their care and support. A memorial service will be held at 11am Saturday, May 17th, at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin 11801 San Jose Blvd. Jacksonville, FL 32223 (904)288-0025 Please Sign the Guestbook @
