Vera Compton Obituary
COMPTON VALERIA Vera Compton passed away May 11, 2014 surrounded by the love of her family at the Baptist Medical Center Nassau. She was born January 14, 1929 in Coffee County, Georgia to the parents Riley and Elizabeth Adams. She traveled to Jacksonville, Florida in her teenage years and met and married Ralph Hesley Compton. Together they made Jacksonville their home and raised their kids. She was a member of Springfield Baptist Church as well as singing in their choir and always helping with the nursery or outreach feedings presented by her church. She loved her family, grandchildren, gardening, flowers, and reading. She was predeceased by her parents Riley and Elizabeth Adams, Husband Ralph H. Compton and son Ronald David Ronnie Compton. She is survived by her children, Ralph Lamar (Liz), William Douglas Bill, Donald Kenneth Kenny, James Richard Ricky (Fran), Robin Joel (Brenda), Randall Clark Randy Compton. Three daughters, Velma Annette Driggers (Joe), Sarah Lynn Buenaflor (Freddie), and Carol Mims (Mike). She presently has 27 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Marie Boulle; Three brothers, Paul Adams (Jackie), Eugene Adams (Chew), and Jerry Lee Adams (Shari); several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 A.M. at Springfield Baptist Church, 1106 N. Liberty Street, Jacksonville, FL 32206 with Pastor Frank J. Pintello Jr., officiating. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to service. Interment followed in Evergreen Cemetery beside her husband. Arrangements are under the direction of George H.
