Gloria Lucille Pelletier Obituary
PELLETIER Gloria Lucille Pelletier, 88, passed away Sunday, May 11, 2014. She was born on May 15, 1925 in Brisbane, Australia and married to Roger Pelletier on September 14, 1944 in Brisbane. They shared over 68 years of wonderful marriage. She was one of the thousands of Australian war brides coming to the US after WWII. She traveled from Brisbane to Lewiston, Maine, sailing on the SS. Mariposa. Gloria was pre-deceased by her spouse, Roger, in 2013, and her 3 brothers, Ronald, Keith, and Brian. Gloria and her husband were the proprietors of Fashion Dry Cleaners in Galesburg, Illinois for many years, and moved to Jacksonville after retiring. She enjoyed a good game of cribbage, The Wheel and Jeopardy, crafts and sewing, and traveling. Her grandchildren will remember her as the best baker ever. Gloria was a long-time member of St. Paul's Parish-Riverside. But mostly, Gloria was a quiet, loving, and compassionate woman with a heart far bigger than her tiny build. She always had time for a hug or a word of consolation for her family and friends. Her work ethic, independence, and virtues of kindness, humility, graciousness and patience were a model for all. Gloria is survived by her daughter, Suzanne P. Murphy (Kevin) of Jacksonville, FL; son, Michael J. Pelletier (Susan) of Madison, Wisconsin; grandsons, Roger C. Murphy of Jacksonville, FL, and Edward C. Murphy of Jamestown, ND; granddaughter, Anna T. Murphy of Jacksonville, FL; great-grandsons, Isaiah and Eli Nalos; great-granddaughter, Isabella Nalos, and Eli Nalos of Jacksonville, FL, and many nieces and nephews. A Celebration Mass will be held at 10am on Friday, May 16, 2014, at St. Paul's Catholic Church, 2609 Park St., Jacksonville, FL. The family will receive visitors starting at 9am at St. Paul's Catholic Church. A Rosary will be recited prior to the Celebration Mass around 930am. Burial will be held at Jacksonville National Cemetery, Jacksonville, FL at 1:30pm, Friday, May 16, 2014, where she will be buried with her beloved spouse. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or any of the Jacksonville agencies which feed and shelter the homeless. Arrangements entrusted to Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home 729 S. Edgewood Ave, Jacksonville. Please Sign the Guestbook @ Jacksonville.com
