MYERS Alvis Elaine DuBose Myers, 73, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away on Friday, June 6th, 2014 due to complications from ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease). She was a retired teacher's assistant who spent her career at Normandy Village Elementary School where she worked for 27 years. She had a passion for working with children and a unique ability to make every child feel special. In addition, she was also a member of First Baptist Church West Jacksonville. Alvis is survived by her husband of 53 years Jimmy Myers, daughter Teresa Myers and son Malcolm Myers. She had 5 grandchildren (Lance, Jaime, Cassie, Dakota and Joshua) and 6 great grandchildren (Iceis, Shylo, Elijah, Marshal, Brice and Cheyanne). Alvis also has one surviving sibling, Marvin DuBose and was predeceased by her parents Albert and Thelma DuBose and her sister Joyce Manis. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Hardage-Giddens Town & Country Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205, www.townandcountryfuneralhome.com . Funeral Services will be conducted by Dr. Gene Hodges at 11:00 am on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at the funeral home. Interment immediately following the service.
