LEGGETT Please Sign the Guestbook @ Jacksonville.com Mr. Miron Arthid Leggett, 89, of Augusta, GA, passed away on Friday, June 6, 2014 surrounded by his family. Memorial services will be held on Monday, June 9, 2014 at 4pm in the Columbia Road Chapel of Elliott Sons Funeral Home. Interment will be private. Born in Monticello, FL, he was the son of the late Christopher Columbus Leggett and Lydia Stevens Leggett. He lived most of his life in Jacksonville, FL before moving to Augusta to retire. He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II. He owned Leggett Heating and Air and retired from Seaboard Railroad (CSX). He was a member of First Baptist Church of Augusta, Alee Shrine Club, Savannah, Augusta Alee Shrine Club, and Augusta Shrine Club Golf Unit. Miron enjoyed fishing, golf, basketball, spending time with family, and summers in the mountains. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Lavon Leggett. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Doris Stringer Leggett, children, Bobby Leggett and his wife Carolyn, Dorie Leggett and her husband Keith Bender, Richard Parham, Nancy Kitchens and her husband Ralph, grandchildren, Melanie (Lucas) Kitchens O'Meara, Carlton (Holly) Kitchens, Taylor (Kate) Leggett, Robert Leggett (fianc Carra Bannan), Jonathan Leggett, David Simmons, great grandchildren, Lucas Gray O'Meara, and William David Leggett. The family would like to thank the caregivers, Diane Johnson, Mary Mason, and the staff at Kentwood for their loving and tender care of Miron. The family will receive friends on Monday, June 9, 2014 from 3pm until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Shriners Hospitals for Children - Greenville, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, SC, 29605.
