Sharon Lee Griffis Obituary
GRIFFIS Sharon Lee Griffis, 66, went home to be with her heavenly father, an older sister and her earthly father, Henry G. Griffis, Sr., on Friday June 13, 2014 after a brief illness. She leaves behind her son, Brian L. Turner and granddaughter, Allena Rae Turner; mother, Ida L. Griffis; brother, Henry (Hank) Griffis, Jr; sisters, Karen Jeffers (Hollis) and Diana G. Nazario (Ramon); and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Sharon loved her family and community that was her world . She was a Registered Nurse for a few years before working for the family business, Griffis Gas Company of 103rd street, Jacksonville, most of her life. She returned to teaching for a few years at Santa Fe Community College in Starke after the family business closed in 1998. We will forever miss her Laughter, big personality, entertaining humor, jokes, storytelling and the special way she lit up the room. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday June 17, at 1pm in the First Baptist Church of Maxville, with Rev. Richard Fish officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday starting at 11am. Interment will follow in Long Branch Cemetery, Maxville. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Community Hospice North East, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, 32257.
