Denise L. Hughes Obituary
HUGHES Denise L. Hughes, 51, passed away on Friday, June 20, 2014. She is survived by her husband of 12 years, Daniel. Denise was an amazing woman, who was passionate about everything she did. She especially enjoyed traveling both in and out of the country with her husband and pursuing their love of underwater diving. Denise spent her whole life in service to her country and community, beginning with her 6 years in the U. S. Navy followed by her current 25 year career with the Jacksonville Sheriff s Office. She was a member of the Jacksonville Scubanauts Dive Club and was a research diver for The Jacksonville Reef Research Team. Mrs. Hughes was predeceased by her father, Daniel Kauffman. In addition to her husband, Daniel, she is survived by her mother, Sandra Kauffman; sisters, Deborah Kauffman (Edwin), Dori Krause (Roderick), Audrey Jeancola (Tony) and Lauretta Downes (Daniel); brother, Daniel Kauffman; her special Aunt Kathy; and her beloved dog, Buddy. Denise s Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 26th at Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, 7500 Southside Blvd. Jacksonville, FL 32256 with The Rev. Mal Jopling and F.O.P. Chaplain Clarence Jarrell officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family gratefully requests donations to The Jacksonville Reef Research Team, 1655 The Greens Way #3422, Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250 or The (Melanoma Research), P. O.
