CRAIN Please Sign the Guestbook @ Jacksonville.com Everett A. Crain, 83, passed away June 23, 2014. He was happily unaware of his illness but had the support of his loving family around him as entered his heavenly home. He was born in Roodhouse, IL and served honorably in the U.S. Navy as a young man. He had been a resident of Peoria, IL before moving to Neptune Beach, FL 25 years ago and attended Celebration Church in Jacksonville, FL. Everett retired after 40 years from Caterpillar and worked an additional 20 years for Publix Supermarkets, in Atlantic Beach and Neptune Beach, FL where he was known affectionately by his co-workers and customers as Mr. Everett . Growing up without much of anything, he was a self-sacrificing man who made sure his family had every comfort that he had not known as a child. The love he had for them was immeasurable. Preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Virginia Crain Garde, Mr. Crain is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jan; sons, Dick Crain (Dawn) and Dave Crain (Cheryl); sister, Barbara Jean Blimling of Peoria, IL; grandchildren, Connor, Sydney, Hunter, Courtney, Mia, and Matt; grand-dog Moses; and numerous nieces and nephews. A service to celebrate his life will be held 6:00 p.m. Friday, June 27th in the Chapel of HARDAGE-GIDDENS FUNERAL HOME, 1701 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville Beach, FL. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to COTA, Children s Organ Transplant Association to help fund medicine for Everett s grandson, Hunter, who is awaiting a heart transplant, at www.cota.org.
