1931 - 2014 Obituary Condolences
KONGEAL Kenneth Albert Kongeal, Sr., 83, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, July 2, 2014. He was born in Detroit, MI in 1931 and moved to Jacksonville, FL in 1946. He married Carolyn June Nasworthy in 1951, who was the love of his life. Kenneth & Carolyn were blessed with 5 loving children, Connie Kongeal, Karen Brown (Eddie), Cindy Ganas (Larry), Candace Shirley (Dr. Paul) & Kenneth Kongeal, Jr.. Additional blessings include eight grandchildren, Cara Templeton, Stephen Joseph Turner, Kenneth Hinson, Matthew Templeton, Heather Hatcher, Carolyn Tucker, Kayla Holsenbeck, Faith Shirley and six great-grandchildren. Married for 63 years, his family was his passion. He enjoyed spending time with them and was affectionately known as Pop Pop. Shortly after his marriage, he was drafted into the Army and served overseas in Korea during the war. Upon returning home, he began his professional life as a Civil Engineer. His work can be seen throughout Florida. He contributed to many highway projects, parks, subdivisions and prominent Jacksonville landmarks. Kenneth took pleasure in golf, fishing, enduro racing, hunting and boating. Pop Pop was loved by all. His kindness and warm smile were just a small part of the treasure found in this wonderful man. He will be deeply missed and will remain in our hearts forever loved. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 7, 2014 at Hardage-Giddens, Hendricks Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Jacksonville National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. on Monday.
