SOLANO Please Sign the Guestbook @ Jacksonville.com Mae Florine Flo Thayer Solano, 81, a long time resident of Jacksonville, passed away with her family at her side on July, 14, 2014. She was born in Tarboro, NC, on October 28, 1932 to the late Joseph Harry Thayer and Alice Olivia Thayer. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 43 years, Albert W. Solano, six brothers and five sisters. Florine is survived by her two children, Mike Solano (Debbie), Susan Ward (Chris); four grandchildren, Kerri Garis (Frank), Kristen Solano, Rhett Ward and Mary-Grace Ward; and her sister, Harriett Robirts (Jim). Flo graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1950 and retired from Independent Life Insurance Company after 25 years of service. She enjoyed the latter part of her life working at Trudy s Hallmark Store in Baymeadows, which brought her much happiness. Flo was a long time parishioner of Christ the King Parish and most recently, Holy Family Catholic Church. Flo was a loving and caring Sister, Mother, Mother-in Law, Grandmother and Friend to many and will be missed by all whose lives she touched with her generous spirit, unconditional love and acts of kindness. Spending time with family and friends was most important in her life. The family would like to acknowledge the love and compassion of the members of Mandarin Senior Citizen Center where Flo enjoyed spending a great deal of her time with newfound friends. They would also like to thank the many special friends and neighbors who have supported, loved, and encouraged Flo, bringing her much comfort and happiness. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 18th at Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home (904-768-2596), 940 Cesery Blvd., with a Rosary Service at 7:00. A funeral service to celebrate Flo s beautiful life will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church on Saturday, July 19th, 1:00 p.m. The graveside service will be held at Arlington Memorial Cemetery.
