DIGIACOMO Command Master Chief Carmen DiGiacomo Jr. Jocko, retired, commenced his final deployment on July 19, 2014. He was born on April 19, 1947, the second child of Josephine Veneria DiGiacomo and Carmen Pampy DiGiacomo. He attended Haddon Township High School and graduated in 1965. After graduation he enlisted in the US Navy. While in the Navy he met and married the love of his life, Melina of 44 years. He is a graduate of the Navel Senior Enlisted Academy. He served 28 years in the US Navy retiring in 1995 at the rank of Command Master Chief. He was awarded 3 Navy Commendation Medals, 2 Navy Achievement Medals, various Unit Commendations and Ribbons. Upon his retirement from the Navy, he worked with the Federal Aviation Authority as Principal Avionics Inspector, retiring as Supervisor Aviation Safety Inspector, after 17 years. He is survived by his beloved wife, Melina, his son Carmen Mark III, his grandson Dominic. He is also survived by his older sister Kathy and younger brother Pat, and numerous nieces & nephews. Carmen never met a stranger, he enjoyed his life sharing laughs with family and friends, playing golf with his son, a passion for new technology with his grandson, his wife's cooking, and spending time with his pets. He will be immensely missed by all who knew him. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 am, Tuesday July 22nd at St. Joseph Catholic Church (Historic Church), 11730 Old St. Augustine Rd., Jacksonville, FL. The family will receive friends from 10:30 am until the start of the Funeral Mass. Burial with Full Military Honors will be in Jacksonville National Cemetery at 2:00 pm the same day.
