Dan Turner Obituary
TURNER Captain Dan Turner June 28, 1928 July 30, 2014 Dan loved the lord. He served in the army during the Korean war. He owned his own Shrimp Boat at age 17. It was an art to him doing anything on water. Salvage, Towing, Dredging, Diving, Rigging, Tug Boats, Ships, Barges, he knew it all and well. Dan had many friends because he was a friend. He never met a stranger and loved to tell about experiences in his life, and he had many. He was a fair man, loved children and they loved him. If a stranger looked lost or down, Dan would talk to them and soon I would see him press a little something in their hand. He was always willing to help when he saw a need. Dan always wanted to teach kids how to survive, learn a trade and have good manners. There was never a dull moment with him and not enough paper to describe him. I know because we were soul mates for 39 adventurous and loving fun filled years. And was and always will be my hero. He is survived by his daughter Joyce Franklin and her husband Steve Franklin of Yulee, Fl., his sons Dan Turner and his wife Vely Turner of Atlantic Beach, Fl., his son Kenny Turner of Jonesboro, La., his son Douglas Huston and his wife Sharee Huston of Bella Vista, Arkansas and a very large family and many, many friends. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday in the Burgess Chapel of Oxley-Heard in Fernandina Beach. He will be laid to rest beside his father in Palmetto Cemetery, Brunswick, Ga.
