CARTER Please Sign the Guestbook @ Jacksonville.com Thelma Lorraine Carter, 79, beloved mother, sister and friend, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 8, 2014. She was born February 26, 1935 to the late Edward and Leona Hatcher. Thelma was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Fred Carter. She is survived by her children, Kathy Hardee (Wayne), Angie Parrish (David), Alicia Crawford and Faron Carter; sisters, Ida Jeffers, Linda Reynolds, Philla Joy Brown, Judy Young, Janice Stevens; brother, Charles Hatcher. Ms. Carter was a loving grandmother to eight grandchildren, Karen Crawford (Josh), Steven Hardee (Heather), Jody Parrish (Alisa), Jason Chesser (Megan), Michael Hardee (Amanda), Justin Parrish, Jennifer Higginbotham (Travis), and Jessica Hannah (Kyle), and 16 great-grandchildren. She had retired after 30 years of service as a bus driver from Clay County School Board, was a faithful prayer warrior, compassionate to those in need and had a special love for animals especially her devoted pet dog and companion, Duke. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 12 at 11 AM at First Baptist Church of Maxville, 8635 Maxville Blvd, with Bro. Charlie Hunt officiating. Interment will follow in Long Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6-8 PM at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Cedar Bay Funeral Home, Jacksonville, 714-1110.
