Bill Lilly, age 73, of Fernandina Beach, FL passed away on Thursday afternoon, August 7, 2014 at St. Vincent s Medical Center in Jacksonville. Born in Stotesbury, WV, he was the eldest of two children born to the late Orlando Raymond and Kathryn Adele Thompson Lilly. He grew up in Beckley, WV and was a graduate of Woodrow Willson High School. After completing high school and at the age of 18 he joined the United States Navy. After being honorably discharged in 1963, he settled in Jacksonville and in 1965 married Mary Ellen Duncan. In 1966, he joined Moffitt Bearings before moving to Motion Industries as a Sales Representative responsible for the Southeastern Region. For the next 30 years, he serviced any business needing Industrial Production Equipment; especially in the Pulp and Paper Industry. In 1998, he was assigned to Container Corporation of America as their in house representative responsible for providing needed components to maintain their operating and production equipment. Mr. Lilly retired from Motion Industries in 2008. During his career with Motion Industries, he and his wife had lived and raised their family in the Highlands section of North Jacksonville. In 2001, he and his wife moved to Fernandina Beach. Mr. Lilly was an avid sports fan, especially the Atlanta Braves and West Virginia college football. He was an integral part of the development of NAA; now known as the Northside Athletic Association. He coached his son s, his daughter s and granddaughter s sports teams and was a common face seen at the Highlands Little League Park. He and his wife looked forward to their annual trips to the beaches of Naples, FL and traveling back home to Beckley to visit family. Mr. Lilly s wife passed away in November of 2011. He leaves behind, his son Scott Lilly and his wife, Jessica, Jacksonville, FL, his daughter, Patricia Trish Griffis and her fiance, Charlie Cooke, Fernandina Beach, FL, a sister, Alyce Perkowski and her husband, Harry, Beckley, WV, grandchildren, Angel Taylor Lilly, Grace Sara Lilly, William Scott Lilly Jr., Lilly Kate Griffis, Madyson Elizabeth Griffis, McKynsie Faith Griffis and two nieces, Leah Jane Sisk and Katy Perkowski. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 in the Burgess Chapel of Oxley Heard Funeral Home with Reverend Frank Camarotti, officiating. Mr. Lilly will be laid to rest with his wife at a later date in Beckley, WV. His family will receive friends on Monday from 6:00 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
