ROSENBERGER Please Sign the Guestbook @ Jacksonville.com Daniel John Rosenberger, 81, of Crystal River passed away peacefully on August 12, 2014 surrounded by his cherished family. He was born in Kittanning, PA on January 3, 1933 to the late John and Margaret Rosenberger. He graduated from Apollo High School in 1949. Following high school, he eagerly joined the US Air Force. During the Korean War he was a tail gunner on the B-29. After leaving the Air Force Dan worked for Florida Steel for 25 years, retiring in 1989. Since retirement Dan called Crystal River home. For many years Dan was a volunteer mentor at Homosassa Elementary School. He also served as a Big Brother for 7 years. Dan was a member of Crystal River Aerie 4272, Homosassa VFW 8189, and American Legion Post 155. Dan's greatest joy in life was his family and his many friends. He will be sorely missed by many. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Dean Smith. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Bonnie Rosenberger, his daughter Cheryl Rider and husband Bill of Orange Park, Florida, his daughter Marcia Sterner and husband Jeff of Margate, Florida, his daughter Tracy Jarrell and husband Van of Jacksonville, Florida, his step-daughter Amy and husband Don of West Palm Beach, Florida and his step-son Don and wife Jennifer of Conyers, Georgia. He is survived by his beloved grandchildren Chad Rider, Lisa Rider, Travis and Caressa Jarrell, Chris and Jessie Jarrell, Celeste Dale, Lindsey Dale, and Griffin Dale. Three great grandchildren, Chloe, Tynlee, and Blake, also survive him. He is survived by his sister Gertrude (Sis) Toy, his sister Helen Johnston and husband Clyde, and his brother Jim Rosenberger and wife Barb. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 15, 2014 at 10:00AM at Strickland Funeral home in Crystal River. Services will begin at 11:00AM. Following the funeral, there will be a graveside service at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. At 3:00 PM a celebration of life will be held at the Eagles on Grover Cleveland in Homosassa. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Operation Welcome Home or Honor Flight, PO Box 1046, Inverness, FL 33451.
