Avis Arlene WHITLEY Obituary
WHITLEY Avis Arlene Whitley, 76, passed away on Friday, August 22, 2014. She was born August 20, 1938 in Baxley, Georgia to the late Charles & Gracie Dean. Avis had lived most of her life in Jacksonville, was Baptist by faith, and was known as Nanny to everyone who knew her. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, friend and will be dearly missed by all. Avis was predeceased by her husband of 50+ years, Jerrell Whitley. Survivors include her son, Jerrell Jerry Whitley, Jr.; daughter, Joyce Whitley Rooker (Charles); stepbrother, Robert McLain; sister in laws, Irma Grace Whitley, Virginia Dean; special friend Jeanne Burch (Joey, Jason, and Jordan); grandchildren, Jason Shiferdek (Whistina), Beau Parks (Emily), Jerrell Whitley III (Krisinda), Nicole Smith (Chris), Caitlyn Rooker, Heather Dyal; great grandchildren, Shayne, Alyssa, Noah, Westin, Easton, Nicholas, Cameron, Shelby, Alyssa, Brianna, Zachary, Kyndall Lee, Cortney, Austin, Nathan, Taylor, Kaitlyn, Dylan; great-great grandchild, Brayden and numerous other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 27 at 11 AM in the chapel of Cedar Bay Funeral Home, 405 New Berlin Road, with Rev. Ben Jones officiating. Interment will follow by cremation.
