Captain Maylon Truxtun Scott Obituary
SCOTT Captain Maylon Truxtun Scott, US Navy, retired, age 96, died 24 May 2017 after a sudden illness. His residence was at Fleet Landing, Atlantic Beach, FL. Maylon graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1943. He served in World War II, the Vietnam and Korean wars and was awarded 9 Bronze Star Medals and the Legion of Merit. He was Commissioning Commanding officer of the USS Biddle (DLG-34) which received the Secretary of the Navy's Commendation for combat operations in southeast Asia, then completed an around the world tour. After thirty years Maylon retired in Newport, RI where he had a business career. He and his wife moved to Grantham, NH, then to Atlantic Beach, FL. in May 2002. Maylon's wife, Betty Chambliss Scott, of 60 years passed away January 2006. On 28 February 2007, he married Marilyn Worden Willis. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn, son, Turner Chambliss Scott, of Newport, RI, daughters Carol Leigh Roelker of Cincinnati, OH and Susan Scott Martin of Woodbury, VT, six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
